the house

Well, I can check one thing off my list of things to do today. That would be getting pictures of my dollhouse up on my blog. Ok.. I got some shopping done too, but that wasn't really on my list! I am really excited about the fact that I can soon start decorating.
That's all for now. See you tomorrow for the big draw.

Almost draw time

Good afternoon all. I hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine was busy with birthday parties and baby showers. Lots of fun. Thanks for the back to blogging wishes too. Its nice to know I was missed. :) A family member has been pretty sick so it has been a hard couple of weeks. Even though I haven't been posting much I have tried to take a few minutes here and there to visit some of my favorite blogs. If you are new visitor to mine, take a couple of minutes to check out some of the great blogs I have listed as well as the blogs of my followers. You will definitely discover some great new things. As for my own blog news I just want to remind everyone that the deadline for my contest is just about here. If you would like to be entered to win one of my hand stitched dollhouse rugs just leave me a comment. I am going to write all the names of the entrants on a piece of paper and draw one out of a hat. I am doing it old school style! July first I will post the winner, so good luck. The winner can choose from one of the rugs shown and once I have the mailing information I will ship it out no charge to you.

I have finally gotten some pictures taken of my mostly constructed dollhouse so I will post those either tonight or tommorow. I am really happy with how it has come together. Most of the credit for that though has to go to my step father. Thank goodness he is a bit of a perfectionist! The world would fall to a crumbling heap if it had to rely on people like me. I am sure I would end up in a home duck taped and stapled together! Oh well, I'll stick to posting.

a couple of ideas

Hello all,

Long time no blog! I heard a couple of great thrifty ideas. One is to make a rug from a wash cloth with small print on it. Another idea is to make a paper template of the floor you want to cover and cut the shape of it from contact paper or whatever paper you want to use. You can usually find marble patterned contact paper which would be cool for counter tops or the bathroom. I haven't tried it but I wondered if you could find a washcloth that would work as plush carpeting too. Hmmm!

The other thing I discovered to share is on about.com. There is an article on thrifty miniature collecting. It is called "Best Miniature Buys from Yard Sales" and here is the link http://miniatures.about.com/od/buyingsellingminiatures/qt/miniyrdsales.htm?nl=1. That is definitely up my alley. Have a great night,

out of commision for a bit

Hello everyone. I just wanted to let you all know that I will most likely be a non poster for awhile. Just a bit of family stuff going on but it is taking up a lot of my time so I will post what I can when I can but for the most part I will be taking a break from this. The contest is still on and I will check now and again for new comments. Have a great week!

mini mall

I was wandering the net again today. Not aimlessly, I was working hard searching for great mini ideas for my loyal readers. See, it was not a selfish use of my time at all! No.. discovering new things and enjoying an awesome hobby is never a waste of time in my book. On this leg of my virtual travels I discovered an online 'mall' devoted to dollhouse miniatures. They ship internationally which, being in Canada, is usually the first thing I check. It can be extremely frustrating to spend time looking through a site only to find out none of the products are available to you! The second thing I checked out was the clearance section. Of course. They had a fair bit to offer and several different sections of bargains to look through. I picked out a few things to add to my mental wish list. I don't know if you can tell from the things I picked that I was a little hungry while surfing! I guess I should go take care of that. Have a great day all,

two sites

Just a quick post tonight, one of my followers, Erica, has a new site so check it out at
http://miniatureserika.blogspot.com/ . The title is also changed to: Miniatures By Erika. The second picture is of one of her dolls. The first picture is something I found tonight that I definately am puttimg on my wish list. I found it at an online miniature retailer called Modern Dollhouse. If you feel like checking it out you can find it here: http://www.geocities.com/moderndollhouse/. Thier things are not particularily cheap, but there are some very unique items. Its a cool site to look through even just for ideas and to dream. I may just be dreaming about that cute little rooster egg set tonight!

Hello

I am thrilled with the response to the giveaway so far. A big thanks to Kim @ http://flowerkim.blogspot.com/ for helping to get the word out. I also want to say hello, welcome, and thanks for reading to all my new followers. I have had some great comments already. I am having fun surfing around your blogs as well. Dee has a mini's site @ http://delightfulminis.blogspot.com/. I love the look of her mini kitchen. Doreen has one as well @ http://doreensprojects.blogspot.com/and I love her picture of a paint can room box. Tiffany left me some kind words yesterday too so be sure to check out her site @ http://minimischief.blogspot.com/. She seems to be an artist as well which is a talent I wish I had.

Once again I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to have a look at the site. I was doing a happy dance last night when I saw the new 'net' friends and people reading my blog. My husband laughs but I think its great. I look forward to discovering new things with everyone. Have a great night all,

June's giveaway!

Today is the day I am starting my first blog contest ever! In my ongoing effort to connect to other miniature enthusiests, get some feedback, promote frugal dollhouse decorating, and share some of my work I am offering one lucky person thier choice of carpets. All you have to do to enter is comment on any of my posts. That's it. At the end of June I will randomly pick one person and I will post the winner here. I will even pay the shipping... how is that for a good deal. I hope to get lots of comments so spread the word if you can. I really appreciate my readers and I hope to help make this hobby as fun and affordable as possible. If there is anything in particular someone would like me to look into please leave me a comment for that too. Any and all sugestions are definately welcome.

That's it for now, have a great day,

A little more of what I have been working on :)    This Joy sign is metallic, it just doesn't show well in the picture ...
